Tooth-Colored Fillings

Many of us will get a cavity at some point in our lives. Even if you take excellent care of your teeth, you may develop a tiny spot of decay between teeth that needs a dental filling.

At Groveport Smiles, we believe you deserve the best that dentistry has to offer. When we recommend treatments like conservative tooth-colored fillings, we can remove decay, fill the cavity, and leave you with a healthy, beautiful smile.

If you have a toothache, please call our Groveport, OH dental office so we can take care of it as soon as possible.

Tooth-Colored Fillings Improve Oral Health

For many years, silver amalgam fillings were the most durable solution to protect and strengthen a decayed tooth. But advances in modern dentistry continually bring us materials like tooth-colored fillings that are a much healthier solution.

We also refer to tooth-colored white fillings as composite fillings because they’re a blend of glass and resin particles. This combination gives the material an appearance that's very similar to tooth enamel. Dr. Garrison customizes your filling by choosing a color that blends well with your smile.

It’s always best to maintain as much tooth structure for as long as possible. Placing a silver filling requires us to remove a lot of tooth structure. But we bond composite fillings directly to remaining healthy tooth structure. This process helps us preserve the integrity of your tooth and leave you with a strong, durable tooth repair.

While Dr. Garrison recommends tooth-colored fillings for their strength, durability, and natural appearance, she will also place sliver fillings at your request.

Fix Small Cosmetic Flaws with Dental Bonding

Since tooth-colored composite material looks so natural, Dr. Garrison also uses it for a process called dental bonding.

If you have cosmetic flaws like a broken or chipped tooth, we can fill in these areas using the same composite we use for tooth fillings. Dr. Garrison layers the material, and expertly sculpts it to match the existing tooth structure.

The result is a seamless repair and a beautiful, flawless smile

How You Can Prevent Cavities

We recommend dental exams and teeth cleanings at Groveport Smiles every six months. At these appointments, Dr. Garrison will look for cavities and gum disease. By supporting these dental checkups by brushing and flossing at home, you can dramatically decrease your risk of toothaches and unexpected dental costs.

Frequently Asked Questions

Dr. Garrison has been practicing dentistry for 18 years, but she has a passion for learning about new materials and technology that benefits you, the patient. For many years, dentists didn’t have choices when it came to filling a cavity, but today we do.

If you have a decayed tooth, we usually recommend a tooth-colored filling to strengthen and protect it. Silver fillings are very durable, but they leave an obvious dark spot in your mouth. On the other hand, tooth-colored fillings in Groveport, OH match surrounding teeth and blend seamlessly with your smile.

One reason our patients appreciate tooth-colored fillings is because they look so natural. Since the material is made from tiny glass and resin particles, it has a translucent appearance that resembles tooth enamel. Once Dr. Garrison places a tooth-colored filling in your tooth, even you won’t be able to detect it!

Filling a decayed tooth with tooth-colored material is critical because it strengthens and protects the tooth from further damage. The process is straightforward, and Dr. Garrison can expertly fill a cavity in just one dental appointment.

Do you have a toothache and suspect you need a tooth-colored filling? Please call Groveport Smiles, to arrange a dental appointment with Dr. Garrison.
